Gloucester County Jail Roster Overview
The official Gloucester County Sheriff's Office corrections pages describe the jail, visitation, mail, canteen, phone service, programs, and jail history, but the research did not locate a public Gloucester County Jail online roster, searchable booking list, recent-bookings report, mugshot gallery, or inmate-profile page on the county site. That matters because a normal roster workflow would let a user enter a name and open a profile. Gloucester does not currently present that kind of county-run public form in the inspected official materials.
For same-day custody questions, the practical starting point is the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office and Jail at 804-693-3890. The sheriff's office operates Gloucester County Jail at 7502 Justice Drive, Gloucester, VA 23061, and the corrections page says the jail houses people awaiting bond, held pretrial, or serving active sentences. Sheriff Darrell W. Warren, Jr.'s official biography adds an important routing fact: the bulk of Gloucester inmates are held at Northern Neck Regional Jail in Warsaw. Gloucester's pretrial page also says defendants may be booked into Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center or Gloucester County Jail.
The local record path therefore works as a chain. Start with Gloucester County Jail for current local custody, then use the sheriff's FOIA process for existing booking records or records that cannot be answered by a basic custody call. Check Northern Neck Regional Jail if the person was transferred, and check Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center if the arrest or supervision path involved Middle Peninsula pretrial services. Sentenced state-prison inmates belong in the Virginia Department of Corrections Inmate and Supervisee Locator, while federal inmates and immigration detainees use separate federal systems.
The Gloucester County Corrections page is the official county source for jail operations and visitor rules.
That page supports the local jail facts used here, but it does not replace the need to call or request records when a current inmate list is not published.
How to Search Gloucester Jail Custody
Because there is no verified public Gloucester County Jail roster form, the search process should be treated as custody-location triage rather than a single online lookup. Have the person's full name, date of birth if known, arrest date, arresting agency, and any incident or case number before calling or filing a request. Those details help distinguish people with similar names and help the sheriff's office identify existing records with reasonable specificity.
- Call Gloucester County Jail or the Sheriff's Office at 804-693-3890 and ask whether the person is housed locally, transferred to Northern Neck Regional Jail, transferred to MPRSC, released, or held for another agency.
- If the answer requires documents, use the sheriff FOIA process. Ask for existing records such as a booking sheet, charge summary, bond information, booking date, or release record.
- If the person was moved to Northern Neck Regional Jail, use NNRJ's inmate information channel when available or call 804-333-6419. The automated inmate/facility information line listed in the research is 804-250-1750.
- If Middle Peninsula pretrial services is involved, open the MPRSC Current Inmate Listing or call MPRSC at 804-758-2338 if the roster frame does not load.
- For state custody, use VADOC by name or DOC ID. For federal custody, use the BOP inmate locator. For immigration detention, use ICE ODLS. For alerts, use Virginia VINE.
No official Gloucester County Sheriff's Office mobile app or app-only jail roster was found in the research. Vendor apps may support related services, such as Securus video visitation for MPRSC or JPay deposits for VADOC money, but those apps are not a Gloucester inmate-search portal.
Gloucester County Roster Search Fields
The available fields depend on which system actually controls the record. Gloucester County's own official site did not expose a roster form, so there are no county online search fields to describe. The table separates the verified county fallback from regional and statewide channels that may apply after a transfer or sentencing event.
| Channel | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| No public Gloucester roster located | n/a | n/a | Official sheriff and corrections pages did not expose a public current-inmate search form. |
| Gloucester jail phone inquiry | Phone | n/a | Call 804-693-3890 for basic custody routing and facility confirmation. |
| Sheriff FOIA request | Written, phone, email, fax, or in person | No specific form required by FOIA | Must identify existing records with reasonable specificity; sheriff FOIA officer Jennifer Kurr can be reached at 804-824-2715. |
| MPRSC Current Inmate Listing | Embedded roster/new-window inquiry | Unspecified | The MPRSC page warns that the page may be slow and provides a new-window roster option. |
| VADOC locator | Name or DOC ID search | First and last name for name search, or DOC ID for ID search | Optional filters include location, race, gender, and age range; the disclaimer checkbox must be accepted. |
| BOP locator | Number or name search | Register number for number search, or first and last name for name search | Number types include BOP Register Number, DCDC Number, FBI Number, and INS Number. |
What a Gloucester Inmate Record Shows
Do not assume Gloucester publishes the fields often seen in other jail rosters. The research found no official county inmate-profile page, so the safest description is that details may come from a custody phone call, a sheriff FOIA request, a court case search, a regional jail portal, VADOC, BOP, or VINE. Court records can help verify charges and hearing activity, but court charges are not always identical to intake charges recorded at booking.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Name | Primary identifier for phone inquiries and FOIA requests; no Gloucester online roster field was observed. |
| Date of birth | Useful for disambiguation, although some law-enforcement records may be redacted or withheld under exemptions. |
| Booking date or time | Not published in a Gloucester online roster found in research; request it as an existing booking record if needed. |
| Booking number | Not published by Gloucester online in the inspected sources; use jail or FOIA channels if a number exists. |
| Charges | May be available through jail confirmation, FOIA, a regional jail, or Virginia court systems; formal court charges can change after intake. |
| Bond | Bond and bail details are court or jail specific. Gloucester pretrial services performs risk assessments that help courts determine bail and supervision. |
| Holding location | The most important Gloucester field because custody may be local jail, NNRJ, MPRSC, VADOC, BOP, or ICE. |
| Mugshot | Adult booking photos are addressed by Virginia law, but no official Gloucester mugshot roster was located. |
| Release status | May be confirmed through jail phone contact, VINE, court disposition, regional jail information, VADOC, or BOP. |
Finding County, State, and Federal Inmates
Gloucester County Jail, NNRJ, and MPRSC are jail or regional-jail channels for people arrested locally, held pretrial, awaiting bond, serving local active sentences, or waiting for transfer. VADOC is different. It covers people sentenced to state prison, people under probation or parole supervision, people in VADOC institutions, people in local or regional jails under VADOC authority, institutional hospital placements, and Community Corrections Alternative Program participants. Federal and immigration custody are separate from the sheriff's jail records.
| Custody | Where to Look |
|---|---|
| Recent local arrest, pretrial hold, bond-awaiting custody, or active local sentence | Call Gloucester County Jail at 804-693-3890; also check NNRJ or MPRSC if transferred. |
| Gloucester inmate housed regionally | Northern Neck Regional Jail or Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center. |
| Sentenced state prisoner or DOC supervisee | Virginia Department of Corrections Inmate and Supervisee Locator. |
| Federal inmate | Federal Bureau of Prisons inmate locator, which covers federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detention or ICE transfer | ICE Online Detainee Locator System and the identified ICE facility. |
| Notification instead of lookup | Virginia VINE for custody or criminal case notifications where available. |
The VADOC locator is the correct state channel after a person leaves the jail path for state custody.
VADOC states that locator data is updated daily but may be inaccurate or outdated, so it should be read as a state locator, not as a live Gloucester jail roster.
Gloucester County Jail Facilities
Gloucester County's custody map includes the local jail and two regional jail paths. No state prison, BOP institution, or ICE detention facility was located inside Gloucester County in the official source checks. VADOC does list a Gloucester Probation and Parole District 5 office, but that is a supervision office, not a jail or prison.

Booking Process in Gloucester County
Gloucester-specific booking timing is not published in the inspected official materials, so exact roster-posting times should not be invented. The verified pathway is that a person arrested in Gloucester may be transported to a local jail or regional receiving point. Jail staff identify the person, receive paperwork, search for contraband, inventory property, create or update booking records, take fingerprints and a booking photograph, screen for medical or mental-health needs, classify the person for housing, and route the case toward court or pretrial review.
Middle Peninsula Local Probation and Pretrial Services performs background investigations and risk assessments for defendants arrested and booked into Middle Peninsula Regional Security Center or Gloucester County Jail. Those assessments help the courts determine bail and supervision. The Gloucester corrections page also says deputies transport inmates to court, other detention facilities, doctors, and hospitals, which is why a person may move from the local jail path to a regional jail or another custody system.
Weekend or non-consecutive sentence rules at Gloucester County Jail are more specific. People serving those sentences must report on time, bring picture ID, avoid alcohol or illegal drugs for 24 hours before arrival, contact the jail nurse at 804-693-1090 at least 72 hours before arrival if special medical needs or medication are involved, and pay $10 per day or $20 per weekend by money order only. The county page also lists prohibited items, including cigarettes, unapproved medication, weapons, pornography, and contraband.
Visitation Hours and Rules
Gloucester County Jail visitation is organized by sex and last-name range. Each inmate receives a weekly Visitation List Form and may list up to three people. The jail will not tell callers who appears on an inmate's visitation form. Visitors need valid government-issued photo ID, and visitors under 18 must be with a parent or legal guardian. Prior felony convictions, recent incarceration at the facility, misconduct, dress-code issues, or secured-area search issues can affect approval.
| Inmate Group | Day | Hours | Arrival Cutoff |
|---|---|---|---|
| Female inmates, last names A-L | Saturday | Noon-1 p.m. | No later than 12:45 p.m. |
| Female inmates, last names M-Z | Sunday | Noon-1 p.m. | No later than 12:45 p.m. |
| Male inmates, last names A-L | Saturday | 1-4 p.m. | Sign in no later than 3:15 p.m. |
| Male inmates, last names M-Z | Sunday | 1-4 p.m. | Sign in no later than 3:15 p.m. |
MPRSC uses Securus for on-site video visitation. Its rules include account or app registration, photo and driver's license upload, scheduling 24 hours in advance, and arriving 5 to 10 minutes early. MPRSC lists 30-minute Securus video terminal visits, up to two free 30-minute visits per inmate per week, and no more than three visitors. Use MPRSC rules for a person held at MPRSC, not Gloucester County Jail rules.
How to Contact a Gloucester County Inmate
For Gloucester County Jail, mail goes through the jail mail room and incoming mail is generally handled Monday through Friday excluding holidays, then delivered within 24 hours except weekends and holidays. Books, magazines, and newspapers must come directly from the publisher. Contraband rules prohibit cigarettes, drugs, inappropriate or suggestive photos, lighters, matches, and personal checks.
Gloucester County Jail phone access uses Global Tel*Link/GTL dayroom telephones, collect calls, and GTL Advance Pay prepaid accounts. The research notes that not all carriers accept collect calls. MPRSC phone and video services are different: MPRSC uses Securus, generally permits phone access from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m., does not allow incoming calls, and uses Securus DMS mail addressed to Inmate Name and ID #, Middle Peninsula Regional Jail, VA C/O Securus DMS, PO Box 22706, Tampa, FL 33622.
Commissary and Inmate Funds
Gloucester County Jail canteen uses Keefe Commissary Network. Inmates may buy approved items weekly unless suspended for discipline; the research states orders are placed Sundays and delivered Wednesdays. Money for Gloucester canteen is by money order only, mailed to the inmate's name at Gloucester County Jail, 7502 Justice Drive, Gloucester, VA 23061. Do not send cash or personal checks.
MPRSC money rules are separate. The research identifies JailATM, money orders, and certified checks, with a JailATM lobby option Monday through Friday from 0800 to 1600 and online deposits through JailATM.com. VADOC state-prison money is separate again and uses JPay online, by phone at 1-800-574-5729, or through the JPay mobile app. Before sending funds, identify the correct facility because Gloucester County Jail, MPRSC, NNRJ, and VADOC do not share one money system.
Note: Confirm the person's current holding facility before sending money, mailing property, or scheduling a visit because Gloucester inmates may be moved regionally.
Public Records Requests for Jail Records
Virginia FOIA allows requests for existing public records held by public bodies, officials, employees, and constitutional officers. For Gloucester sheriff records, the county FOIA page lists Jennifer Kurr as FOIA Officer at 7502 Justice Drive, Gloucester, VA 23061, phone 804-824-2715. The sheriff provides a FOIA PDF request form, but Virginia FOIA requests do not have to be in writing or use a specific form. A request should still describe the existing record with enough detail for staff to locate it.
The Sheriff's Office normally has five business days to respond, excluding weekends and holidays. It may provide records, withhold records under a statutory exemption, provide redacted records, state that records cannot be found or do not exist, or invoke an additional seven working days when response is practically impossible. The county page lists $10 for insurance companies or agencies seeking reports, $5 for citizens, and no fee for Gloucester residents who are crime victims seeking a report related to their incident. Larger requests may involve hourly staff charges, printed copies at $0.25 per page, deposits when estimated costs exceed $200, and separate minimums for body-camera footage or 911 calls.
The Gloucester FOIA page is the source for sheriff records-request routing, fees, and response timing.
Use that process for existing booking, jail, or incident records when a phone custody inquiry is not enough.
